:I think the problem is that you can't designate a specific animal to train, try killing all your dogs and training a war animal(I haven't made a kennel yet in DF2010) 68.161.167.37 17:48, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
::Better yet, just put all of your dogs into a cage - animals can't be trained unless they can walk to the kennels on their own. Also make sure your bears aren't in cages. Oh, and for Armok's sake, keep them away from your booze stockpiles! --Quietust 17:53, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
:::I've successfully trained war bears in 2 forts now, and have updated the page. You don't need a dungeon master, and you just do the "train war dog" task with tame grizzly bears running about your fort and it seems to work automatically in the same way as dogs do. If you don't want to train your dogs then I guess you'd have to trap them somewhere. I assume that if you trap them yourself you have to do "Tame large animal" first. Bought ones are already tame and that's how I've always done it. --Akkie 10:54 UTC, 17 April 2010
:::::Grizzly bears have [PET] rather than [PET_EXOTIC] so anybody can tame a captured wild grizzly (using "Tame Large Animal"). If you bought it from the elves, it's already tame. --Quietust 01:18, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
Rock crystal is a type of Gem. When combined with pearlash, it is used to make crystal glass. Some players have reported being able to buy small uncut gems, including rock crystal upon embark. It is suspected the ability to purchase rock crystals on embark is civilization dependent. Raw crystal glass is also sometimes available upon embark.

Goblin Ambushers fighting amongst themselves
I'm on version 31.0.3, on a reclamation fortress. It's the fortress' first goblin ambush, but for some strange reason the goblins are all fighting amongst themselves.

How about something like this as a temporary entry until more can be added?

"Goblins are classic Dwarven enemies. They steal Dwarven Children (babysnatcers), and raid fortresses (Siege). Goblin Snatchers and Master Thieves will sometimes appear with a sack and the intention to shove a Dwarven Child into that sack. In previous versions, captured Dwaven Children were raised in goblin societies and could be seen in goblin towers (adventure mode) or leading sieges (fortress mode).
Goblin Sieges are made up of one or more goblin squads. Such squads have goblins wielding various weapons, are sometimes led by a legendary/leader goblin, and are sometimes mounted on various creatures. It is suspected, but not currently known, that the same is true in the current version.

Examining the goblin Raws shows they can eat bones and enjoy fighting. Their culture springs from mysteriously constructed obsidian towers, which are sometimes connected to far away towers by underground tunnels. Goblin ethics accept even torture, lying, assault, and cannibalism as personal matters. Slavery and theft seem to be encouraged, though treason to the goblin race is a capital offense."
I have removed the reference to having to fill an aquarium, since there is no task to assign, and asking on the forums got me the answer that you dont need too.
Please put it back again if this is wrong, but it confused me for a while. – unsigned comment by JimiD

Should it be noted that an aquarium can be placed in a Dwarf's room but not designated a zoo, while still producing thoughts? It is not necessary to designate a zoo from the cage and this may lower room value (good or bad thing depending). Furthermore, shouid it be noted that you will probably catch mostly turtles rather than, say, moghoppers, which people might want to get extract from (mog juice)?
