The bug isn't exactly new... A Google search showed me Bug:4684 and the subsequent Bug:1932.
It appears to happen in icy biomes, maybe as a result of ice thawing. I also saw some remnants of "Unknown" tiles in the 40d:Tile_types_in_DF_memory page.--Doktoro Reichard (talk) 20:26, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
