This article is about an older version of DF.

Freshwater lakes can be found covering vast areas of land on certain world maps.

These lakes have slopes leading into the Template:L, making them ideal for learning how to Template:L.

Lakes are similar to Template:Ls except that they are freshwater, not saltwater.

(These are not to be confused with the much smaller Template:Ls, which have sheer sides and often evaporate in hot weather.)

Creating A Large Artificial Lake

Note: You must have a source of water on your map.

There are two ways of creating an artificial lake. The easiest way to make one is to Template:L into an Template:L. However, this is dangerous and only one layer deep. The second requires excavating a deep area and filling it from a river or brook, whether by channeling directly or by using Template:Ls.
