Brown Recluse Spider Men are playable as adventurers. As adventurers, they have the advantages of no need for sleep, not feeling pain or fear, having three pairs of arms (which leads to them equipping five shields and a weapon if shield user skill is selected at gen), and a moderately venomous bite that is usually deflected by clothes, but is quite effective at incapacitating animals with pain.
The downsides are non-standard and rather small body size, meaning most found armor will not be useful and strength will be at a malus. Additionally, brown recluse spider men are completely unable to swim or consume non-animal food (e.g. berries).
Upon achieving superior base stats, these creatures become superbrown (e.g. having superbrown recluse spider man strength).
In fortress mode, Brown Recluse Spider Men webs can be found, but the creatures themselves are rarely seen.
