Chromite

Chromite is a dark gray stone found within olivine as veins. It is notable in that it is the sole source of valuable demantoid gemstones, as well as being a potential source of native platinum. Like olivine, chromite is also magma-safe.
In real life, chromite is the sole ore of chromium.
to actually get chromium, have to heat 'in the presence of aluminum or silicon'
might use in stainless steel making, but not sure how that should work
