Wikipedia article

A giant humanoid monster with a single eye set in its forehead.

Cyclopes are large, intelligent, single-eyed humanoids. They are usually found in caves, but can appear above ground as well. Due to their sheer size and the fact that they're building destroyers, they cause lots of fun in your fortress. They are semi-megabeasts and are attracted by wealthy fortresses just like regular megabeasts and titans. The game will pause and display a warning message when a cyclops appears. Cyclopes seem to hang around for a while and then beeline for the nearest fortress entrance. Dispatch with caution.

A Cyclops can be captured by a cage trap; however, due to the weight of the cyclops your dwarves will haul the cage very slowly. While quite harmless inside a cage, a cyclops can prove deadly if released inside your fortress. Be warned though, if you decide to designate the cyclops to be thrown into your death pit (everyone has a death pit) or otherwise removed from its cage, your military dwarves and the dwarf transporting it may begin to attack the cyclops, however, the cyclops won't fight back.

In the unit list a cyclops will be listed as an "uninvited guest" (or "caged guest" if captured).

D4Dwarf.png This article or section has been rated D for Dwarf. It may include witty humour, not-so-witty humour, bad humour, in-jokes, pop culture references, and references to the Bay12 forums. Don't believe everything you read, and if you miss some of the references, don't worry. It was inevitable.

  • They are commonly found teamed up with wolverine men. They do not, however fire laser beams with their eyes.
  • They do not herd sheep and will not steal them from your fort.
  • Their eye is particularly vulnerable to wooden menacing spikes, ballista bolts, and pikes.
  • Do NOT attempt to escape a cyclops by claiming your name is "Nobody". Doesn't work anymore. They know their history.
