I've got some fun going on attempting to do an embark without an axe, did not know about the bug fix until I couldn't get anyone to chop the trees down.

I tested some configuration in the Arena, well yes an iron man will be deadly for a dwarf with wood. Effectiveness of squad equipped with training weapons[edit]

You could ask : Why ?
Well because for some noob players or people loving having easy made and cheap weapons (i'm both + with no metal), it could be usefull (and fun).
In my first fortress, my first experience with them was not really good but not so bad : i killed the adventurer equipped with full iron stuff, i have some heavy casualties, but the fact that my peasants, militia with wood weapon and some real soldiers were mixed give an inaccurate experience.
I tested some configuration in the Arena, well yes an iron man will be deadly for a dwarf with wood. But my adept skilled dwarves with only wood spear and wood shield (don't know if they did use it, because of the spear) did fairly good job, even against skilled humans with full iron equipment. Ok, they used the spear but also wrestling, but they did quite a good job when outnumbering the ennemy. Often the humans died of suffocation.
I'm asking myself : what are the most effective training weapons to kill ? And can they really kill in "real" situations ?
