What purpose does the "r" argument serve? I have a hard time seeing how anything other than the latest version and maybe ``r=1`` are useful. Each cycle has a different number of versions, so ``r=35`` will only be useful for a couple. Is it used by other templates? —Lethosor (talk) 17:03, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

:Specifically ``r=1`` is used in :Template:New in to prevent an incorrect message when the specified version number is the first of its release cycle. It doesn't actually require it now that I realize, oops. I don't know any other templates that use the "r" argument. I don't want to keep updating the template to include new version numbers, so I'm going remove the parameter completely; the cost-effectiveness of managing it is pretty much nonexistent now. I can't see ``r=1`` being useful. Thanks for addressing this. – Doorkeeper 20:51, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
