Keas are flying pests that like to steal shiny or colourful things. They are especially attracted to cloth, gems and metal bars.

Kea are often too small to be butchered, but may be a source of eggs if captured and tamed. They can and will draw blood on dwarves and pets, like cats. A wagon newly deployed to a fortress can be beset by a large, ravenous group of keas and have their stuff stolen and their days ruined.

avExceptional
If you have a Meeting hall designated from a table (dining room), a cage ("zoo"), a well, or a statue (Sculpture garden), dwarves will often throw parties there and many of your precious productive workers will now display the status Attending Party. This has benefits, in that dwarves will get happy thoughts from admiring fine or finely placed statues, cages and the animals in the cages, as well as from making friends and talking to them. They will also slowly develop social skills. However, parties may slow down your fortress's work as your dwarves idly hang-out, sometimes for more than a season (dwarven partying is serious business).

Oddly, dwarves usually cancel party attendance to get a drink or some food - Only a dwarf could forget to bring booze to a party! Despite their numerous desperate attempts they obviously know next to nothing about how to roll in style. Dwarves will also go On Break from a party, even if that means hanging out in the same meeting hall, talking to the same people. Partying is serious work for dwarves.

Parties can be canceled by "free"ing the room where they take place via q f. Even if you immediately recreate the room the party goers will disperse. Canceling the meeting hall status is not enough.

Each eligible room can have its own party going. With multiple overlapping rooms (like several tables in a dining room set to the same area), each can have its own party. If you free the room a particular party started in, the dwarves attending that party will stop partying, but those partying from other rooms (even in the same space) will keep going. If you're going to overlap rooms that can have parties, it may be best to make each room-designated construction from a different material, so you can free the correct party to get an important dwarf to go back to work.

Party Reduction & Prevention
Less-social dwarves seem to be less likely to throw parties, and less likely to make friends to invite them. Less-happy dwarves also seem to be less likely to throw parties. Thus antisocial and dour dwarves can be assigned important labors without as much risk of stopping work to party.

Note that dwarves don't throw parties at meeting halls designated from zones. If all your meeting halls are of this type, your dwarves won't party.

Dwarves will cancel the "Attend Party" status if the meeting hall is not within their assigned burrow0.31.16.

Party Timing
D for Dwarf
It is a noticed trend that whenever something really important needs to be constructed lest doom fall upon the entire fortress, every dwarf capable of working will instead decide to throw a random and boring party where no one even plays 'pin-the-tail on the hoary marmot.' These parties tend to serve no purpose at all, besides wasting roughly a month of everyone's time, even if the whole fortress is starving to death. Dwarves are well known for being less than capable of prioritizing their time, but parties are above and beyond the most flagrant display of this cognitive disconnect.
A bronze colossus is a megabeast. When one takes up residence near a fortress, it's up to those within to make an end of it, or it will make an end of them. Upon its death by means other than melting, a bronze colossus becomes a masterwork bronze statue (worth 1500☼), a great decoration for a grand entrance hall.

Rough Calculations have placed the colossus somewhere between thirty five and forty feet tall, or about 1/4th the height of the Statue of Liberty. This of course assumes it is sculpted in the form of a nude male — a clothed or female figure might be shorter or taller.

Fortress Mode
Bronze colossuses are nearly impervious to normal weapons, but they can still be defeated with cumulative damage. Attacks that cause cumulative damage will be reported as chipping or denting the colossus in the combat log . Adamantine two-handed swords and axes can also lop off entire limbs and heads if you have access to them.

Like other large creatures, a bronze colossus cannot be atom smashed. Raising and retractable bridges do not operate while underneath a colossus either. However, the great weight of a colossus can be exploited by sending it into a multi-floor fall with a controlled cave-in. While the colossus may not die from the fall, it will likely lose all its limbs and any combat effectiveness, which turns it into a great training dummy.

Magma, the solution to all dwarven problems, is also effective against bronze colossi. It may take an extremely long time to melt one unless large amounts of magma are used however. A tamed Dragon can also be quite effective, since a colossus can be melted with dragonfire, which is also much faster than small amounts of magma. Freezing in water, solidifying in obsidian, and cave-ins are also effective tactics.

On the other hand, why kill a 165-tonne colossus when you can trap it in a 7-foot-wide wooden cage and use it as a center-piece for a zoo?

Adventure Mode
Even a relatively weak and unskilled adventurer can easily cripple a bronze colossus with a whip. Other weapons with small contact areas retain some effectiveness too, and cumulative damage will eventually bring down a colossus. Stronger and more skillful adventurers can opt for swords and axes, as they can occasionally lop off limbs and heads. Since bronze colossuses are incapable of learning and have no skills, they have a hard time detecting adventurers that are hidden in ambush, even in close proximity. One can take advantage of this by attacking the colossus' feet and legs early in the battle from hiding, as this will bring it to the ground, greatly lowering its speed and preventing it from charging you.

Trivia
In previous versions of the game, bronze colossuses were nigh invincible in combat, save via decapitation. Only one such feat has been documented in an epic battle.
