:I've just checked this myself - I built a metalsmith's forge, made some fuel, then ordered an iron bin to be forged while I didn't have any iron bars. One of my carpenters produced an artifact bin during a strange mood, and while it works perfectly for storage it, like all other artifacts, cannot be moved to the depot. This has the unfortunate side-effect of preventing you from trading the items inside it; the only solution I have found is to forbid the bin after dumping its contents.
