A cave is a natural formation that occurs in mountainous or rocky areas. Some caves may contain hostile creatures or water, and vary in size from a few tiles to long, winding passageways. Caves can span many z-levels up and down.

Caves tend to be somewhat rare when placing a fortress, the best way to find them is to take quests, ask about the surroundings, and scout for them in adventure mode. This will place them on your map, and also on the embark map for fortress mode making it much easier to build on them.

Circular caves
In some cases it's not rare to see a big circular cave on the map. Most of the time it's connected to the outside world and fill with water that later evaporates and leaves farmable soil or a tower-cap farm. It is not sure if this kind of a cave is shown on the embark screen.verify
Last winter was very hard for us and with spring came some relief. 15 new dwarfs arrived this morning as a great relief. It's time we recruit a few of them for a defense force and completely rework duties for our fellow dwarfs. We also have to dig new rooms for these dwarfs. I'm very optimistic about this year.
Autumn 225
A caravan came this autumn but was overrun by raiders. We also lost several important dwarfs including our leader. No immigrants came. It's not likely that we will survive this winter so we decided to return home with the remnants of the caravan.

Spring is finally here and so is our brewery. We managed to brew some wine and prevent exposure to that dread from the pond. We started building a new level of the wall and once it's complete I'll draw a plan of the current state of the fort. I still can't forgive myself that I let two fellow dwarfs die. I can still see our mason cry in remembrance of her lost friends.

6th Slate 224
19 immigrants have arrived today as a great relief. We still miss a mechanic but someone will take over his job for sure. There is also a brewer and a farmer that will boost our alcohol production. A new smith has arrived, too. The others are not vital for our survival but will be very useful for trading and crafts so the mason and I can focus on expansion of the fort.

19th Malachite 224
There are still only 24 of us but the situation is stable now. With the new dwarfs around we're in abundance of food and alcohol. The cratfdwarves are working full time hoping that we will sell the goods to a caravan that is expected to arrive soon. We started building another level of our outer wall that is three stories high at it's highest point at this time. We want another level so our snipers will have combat advantage against enemies.

We also started digging our living quarters, kennels, and siege engine workshops. I also laid out some plans for exploratory mining in hope to find more gems that we could use. It might be time to start making glass soon.

23rd Limestone 224
Our butcher got very secretive and hid into a crafts workshop. He is probably working on some artifact and I'm very excited to see what will he make. Meanwhile a caravan arrived and we started moving goods for trading.

The next day, suddenly, the door of the crafts workshop was struck down and the butcher flew out in a raging berserk. He killed one of our woodworkers before we managed to take him down. It seems that he was mad after a failure on what he was working on. This is a real tragedy and a terrible loss to us all.

13th Opal 224
The beginning of this winter was catastropthic. We've run out of alcohol due to a shortage of barrels and while the same were in construction several dwarfs died from suffocation in the river. I don't know what happened but some say they were running from some river monster. There are only 16 of us and too much work. We hope for some immigrants soon.

The History of Kelabras by Adil Itebasmel
It is year 223 and I was told that I am to lead an expedition The Everlasting Dimensions and start an outpost. We traveled far and long and took a rest one night. When we woke up the next day we decided to settle here.

1st Granite 223
We just woke up and decided to start unpacking things before breakfast. There is a small hollow in the mountain next to us with a nice pond in front of it. I ordered the disassembly of carts and designated a few spots in the hollow for our stuff. Zuglar, the Mason, and I started drawing plans for initial excavations. We are very enthusiastic about our future here.

5th Granite 223
As we started digging in the hard stone we decided to go a whole level deeper for convenience and safety. We also noticed two ant colonies in the close. We are happy to have those beautiful creatures of nature as our neighbors.

7th Granite 223
Some Rhesus Macaque monkeys attacked us today. Some of the dwarfs threw away what they were carrying and ran away in fear. The monkeys were eventually gone and we got back to mining and moving things. I decided that a wall on the hollow perimeter is a must before we get into greater trouble.

14th Granite 223
We struck Clear zircon! This was indeed a good location for an outpost. I'm already thinking about the possibilities for this piece of nature's perfection. Those monkeys keep us annoying all the time. We have to get that wall up the first thing after our workshops are done.

7th Felsite 223
We struck down a few of the Macaque monkeys. Hopefully, we won't see much of them anymore. Our first workshops are also operational. We got our first bed and barracks so we can get a true rest after a hard working day. Zulban, our mechanic, also constructed several traps at the entrance before the doors. I also found a Smoky quartz while digging our main hallway. We are continuously digging to get the essential things moving before building the outer wall.

1st Hematite 223
It's the first day of Summer and we have just set up our first underground farms. We are ready to start building the outside wall and move all our goods to inside storage area before the winter is upon us.

26th Limestone 223
We were visited by a caravan from Kulet Okil and we traded a few lower value gems for a few barrels of meat and some iron. We are continuously digging out storage areas near the entrance and workshops. Our second level underground is still a mess but the sleeping and fest halls are complete. We laid our first plans for the third underground level for our living quarters in the future.

1st Moonstone 223
Winter is upon us. All our stockpiles are inside and, even without farming and brewing, we have enough food and alcohol to live through our first winter. The wall is almost finished and it will properly protect us from any threat. It still needs a level or two and some fortifications on it. We got rid of those monkeys at least.

27th Opal 223
A kobold thief snug in and tried to steal something. We were lucky and he was detected before he managed to steal anything and was driven away. Only a day later another kobold snug in but this time one of our dogs ripped his guts.

I made an error when calculating alcohol reserves and now we're doomed to drink water while our brewery is still building. To make things worse our metalworker was struck down by a strange water creature while drinking water, and he's our first loss since we came here.

20th Obsidian 223
While the last few days were uneventful we decided to get some water into the fort. We designated some area for channeling and our mechanic started working. He got tired and wanted to drink some water and got struck down by a mysterious creature from the pond. This is our second terrible loss and we are slowly losing motivation. It's late winter and we hope to see a caravan or at least some immigrants very soon or we might be very easily doomed.

Kelabras is not a classic Bloodline game as there is only one player (currently) - me. I wanted to take a journal like game (or more in the same world) and take a storylike journal about it. Since there is no other category I have chosen bloodlines for it.
Player(s)
Currently, the only player is vooood playing the game.

It is year 223 and I was told that I am to lead an expedition The Everlasting Dimensions and start an outpost. We traveled far and long and took a rest one night. When we woke up the next day we decided to settle here.

:I have discovered this game only a week back and immediately fell in love with it. After several failures and not so bad games I decided to go after a historical game.
