This article is about an older version of DF.

Dwarves will sometimes make friends, and this gives them a happy thought. Be warned though, that although they get happy thoughts from making friends and talking with them, they will become quite sad if a friend dies. This can lead to fort-wide morale problems after a death or series of deaths. Dwarves occasionally stop being friends with one another, although this does not generate a negative thought.

You can see the friends of a dwarf in the relationships screen that can be accessed by pressing v p z r.

An unhappy thought is produced on the death of a friend, and a severe unhappy thought is produced if the friend's corpse is not buried quickly and rots.

Dwarves attending a party will sometimes make friends with each other.

Dwarves can also develop other kinds of relationships.
