Pig Iron bars can be created at a Smelter by a Dwarf with the Furnace Operating labour activated.

The recipe for Pig Iron is: One Iron bars + One Limestone + One Fuel = One Pig Iron bars.

Pig Iron can be combined with limestone further at a smelter to produce Steel.
