A Minotaur, one of the most well-known fictional humanoid creatures.

Humanoids are creatures that share the same body shape and physiology as humans. Additionally, humanoids commonly have advanced mental functions of humans and dwarves, such as speech and high-level reasoning. Most of the humanoid creatures in Dwarf Fortress can develop civilizations. Most humanoids can be chosen as player characters in Adventure mode.

Many humanoid creatures share the same natural abilities of their non-humanoid counterparts. For example, a cheetah man shares the same ability of fast running as that of a standard cheetah.
