Loons are common creatures that can be found near any temperate lake.
Use
Loons are exploitable by hunters and can be tamed, but they have a low pet value of 10, don't return very much meat, and are utterly useless for fortress defense, so taming loons is rarely useful unless the fortress is very short on food or some dwarf has a preference for the loon's haunting call. The only useful thing about loons is that they lay eggs, which can be collected for eating in the Nest box.
