Economy (Also know as the "Stacksofonecoinitis" disease) is a truly annoying part of the game for many and also a source of much [[fun]] quite often. If you really feel you need to know about it you should do one out of three things:

In v0.31, there are no conditions under which the economy will activate. [[Main:Toady One|Toady One]] has stated that it may come back in after sweeping changes are made to make it less broken.

A: Do the easy thing if you are a new player that doesn't really know how the game works: Disable Economics (For now at least). To do it, go to you Dwarf Fortress folder, enter the "Data" folder then the "Init" folder. Open the file named "Init". Search for the line [ECONOMY:YES] and replace it with [ECONOMY:NO]

This article is about an older version of DF.

In v0.31, there are no conditions under which the economy will activate. Toady One has stated that it may come back in after sweeping changes are made to make it less broken.

For how the Dwarven economy worked in previous versions, see 40d:Dwarven economy.
