This article is about an older version of DF.

Fat is obtained by butchering an animal.

It can be rendered into tallow in a kitchen. Tallow is used in the production of soap or can be cooked into meals.

Previously a whole stack of fat was processed per job. Now each process fat job processes a single item from the stack, not the entire stack.
