I've done an experiment and it seems that Sheriff or Captain of the guard is another prerequisite to obtain a baron: Grow a fortress to 250 inhabitants without law enforcement and the diplomat will not suggest a barony. However as soon as there is a guard... --MathFox 00:31, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
- I haven't appointed a Sheriff or Captain of the guard and was asked if I wanted a barron, also I am only just over 200!– unsigned comment by 66.168.42.24
