"boiling magma"[edit]

Whenever I view the combat report for a dwarf caught in the dust from a cave-in, it always says "Urist McMiner is caught in a cloud of boiling magma", even if the cave-in takes place nowhere near magma. The dust also leaves no trace of this "boiling magma", and the dwarf suffers no injuries whatsoever. Does this happen to anyone else? GibMoniPls 00:29, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

  • It's a bug that was discovered (and reported) about 3 years ago - when the game formats messages about being caught in a flow, it always uses the GAS state name for the material even if it's dust (i.e. POWDER) or vapor (LIQUID)Bug:1638. --Quietust 00:35, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Plants and cave-ins[edit]

After noticing an odd effect when constructing a courtyard, I conducted an experiment to test what happened to plants involved in a cave-in. Further experimentation (especially in different biomes) is probably warranted, but I'll update the page to include the clearer findings. In particular, I noticed that floor fungus and cave moss under the cave-in did survive where it had grass drop on top of it. --bjh21 (talk) 14:22, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

I've done some more tests. See User:bjh21/Seismic botany for details. It seems that all kinds of grass turn into plain green Grass when dropped. Someone might like to test dropping the special evil and good grasses, but I expect they'll do just the same. --bjh21 (talk) 23:37, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
