:Wild animals and other unnamed creatures receive a name once they've killed something.  (I'm not sure if the kill has to be one of your dwarves/pets.)  I've also seen an announcement about creatures getting "awarded" a name (this happened with a zombie batman after several years of it being continuously on the map -- the dwarves would just run away from it).  I believe I also had a "named" tiger on the map at the beginning of the game.  Any of this match what you're asking about?--Maximus 00:35, 29 October 2008 (EDT)

::I think things that attack dwarf caravans get names too and might not tell you about it.  One time the caravan picked the most absolutely monster-choked vicinity of the chasm to leave through, and named at least six batmen on the way out. --Corona688 15:24, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Gar Cage?
I have a longnose gar, in a cage.  Not a terrarium, a cage, nickel.  It has survived many seasons now.  Do fish go into stasis when in cages or something? --Corona688 15:24, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

:Yes. Yes they do. Anything that isn't one of your dwarves will go into stasis. --Zchris13 00:10, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
