The dwarven naming seems to randomly change vowels into exotic versions... Unfortunately, these do not display as letters when truetype is enabled, making such names extra difficult to find in lists. (This may be due to some tileset/image settings that I can't find I suppose.. I do have phoebus installed.. In fact, the first dwarf in my list is named 'Alath' with the middle A having a small circle over it... which shows as a stone wall in game)

Is there a way to disable this behavior?

:Do you mean "these do not display as letters when truetype is not enabled"? Either way, posting in the Phoebus thread and providing a screenshot will probably get better results. —Lethosor (talk) 21:37, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

::You are correct, I'd misidentified when truetype was enabled (I'd turned it on in the config, but apparently selected a graphics mode that didn't allow it) Which makes sense.. it's falling back to the tileset, which has those chars properly defined for their ingame usage.

::That brings me back to whether the name decoration can be disabled... Umlauts and A's with circles over them isn't adding to the experience... it either forces me to enable ttf, with it's display problems, or show's symbols instead of the letter. – unsigned comment by Drengor

::Ok, I have determined that all of the embark dwarves, and children/babies do not have the special characters. I no longer believe it is random, but that I generated the world before installing phoebus, which generated dwarves with special characters, and when they arrive in migration waves their names remain special.-Drengor (talk) 23:29, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
