0715
Dug into sand, the earth here is arable, ordered farms to be built and plump helmet's to be planted. Plenty of farmland to feed hungry dwarves. Still need to build the brewery's, but the stocks we brought from the mountainhomes ought to suffice for a few months at least.
0915
Started to delve down into the deep, it feels good to cut the earth with my pick. The sun was starting to get to me, I do love the dark. Started construction of the main hallway. Going to plan the first workshop-zone's soon, then look into barracks locations.
0940
Designed the main workshop area, started construction. Designed Sleeping area, ordered construction to begin, but the workshops are the larger project. Still need to design trade good workshop, barracks, and meeting hall, but things are off to a speedy start.
0945
Enlisted the carpenter to help dig the workshops. All dwarves have the ability to cut rock, wood is for sissy girl-elves. Kazak! Nothing remains in the wagon, so I ordered it taken apart, we'll need those logs for the furnaces.
1000
Ordered the construction of the carpenter's shops. Took the Carpenter off mining duty. The Mason will take his place till his area is ready. First crops coming in now, the helmet's are bright purple and looking delicious. Now we just need a still so we can brew them into liquor!
1010
Ordered my woodsman to clear-cut the forest- what sparse amount there is of it. I will have no trees in this fortress, unless they are burnt to fuel my smelters!
1310
Some miasmatic clouds formed around where my fellow dwarves were working (and eating) and in the food stocks, I'll need more barrels, and a Dining area to prevent that stinking stuff from fouling up the morale.
Expeditioner's Log, 081309
1010
Started building the apartments, expanding the food stores. I desparately need some barrels too. The barracks is coming together, just waiting on the mason's workshops to finish and then I'll start ordering the tables and chairs constructed for the dining room.
1023
Started planning where the fortress wall will be, digging out the necessary area should go quickly, its all just soft sand. Placed supports under the soon-to-be-nonexistant cielings above the main area, will be needing to wait for a mechanic to migrate our way before we can take down that area safely.
1042
I swear to Armok! If these damn workers don't start picking up after themselves, I will kill them all! These stinking clouds of miasmatic purple will drive me to murderous rage!
1114
Many things have happened, The dwarves visited, I had nothing yet to trade with them, but that will soon change. I ordered the construction of the moat-channel, and finished the support structure which will be wired to give out when I get the mechanic trained. One of the miners (and also my metalsmith) got stuck on the now free-standing spots, moron. I'll have to rescue him... but I won't have to like it.
1121
Sent out some exploratory miners. Hopefully there will be some decent finds, I've heard of a magma pipe being in the area, that would certainly alleviate my need for wood for fuel.
1138
The miners found the magma pipe, excellent. I ordered a door be put in place to prevent any unwelcome guests, I'll be routing magma to a room soon enough for furnaces and metalcrafting!
1201
The explorers are still hunting, the moat is being dug, the upper walls are planned, the bridge is planned. Just need to site the trade-depot and we'll be all set.
Also, I need to inspect the situation with the magma furnaces, I don't have any bauxite available, so any mechanism I build will be one-shot, which won't do. I suppose I'll just need to do a direct-tap. It'll be dangerous, but that's what it means to be a dwarf!
1242
Started to dig out the furnace room, plenty of space for 54 furnaces, smelters, or whatever else we need.
1304
Near finished with the furnace room, an elven caravan showed up, as expected, they had nothing worth trading for, I bought some beer and told them to get off my land. Bastards.
1350
Migrants arrived, started building the main entrance to Rirassodel, traps, bridges (two of them, one to cut off access to the fort and one to fling the enemy away from my Rirassodel), and extending the apartments to accommodate the new slaves laborers. The furnaces are almost done, just a little more digging. We still need to get an anvil though...
1408
A Kidnapping Goblin Patak tried to ply his black trade in Rirassodel, he tasted steel and wood before the day was done. His head on a pike now adorns the wall to my fortress. Let it be a warning to all who come here. We are dwarves!
1433
The armorer went berserk, started chasing the children around, trying to eat them. It's sad, but unavoidable, he simply couldn't wait for the furnaces to finish being built. They should be in soon, though the dwarves forgot to put in any fortifications to prevent possible magma creatures from getting in. We'll have to see how things go, maybe I'll need to pray to Armok to turn back time for me. He owes me a favor, after all those goblins I killed for him.
OOC Note: I totally forgot to put in the fortifications, I might save-scum out of this one, since this is the first time I've ever had a chance of not completely upfucking everything.
1451
It is as I feared, my fellowdwarves are dead, they took the furnaces, they took the great hall. Burning-- a burning in the deep. I must get to the altar, I must beg Armok to let me go back, try again...
They are coming...

I feel as if I have woken up from an infinite nightmare, I lived in a world of fire and death. I begged Armok to help me, he told me he would, but at a cost. Armok took my soul, but gave me a second chance. I awoke, and went down to the furnaces. I saw that noone had constructed fortifications to protect from the magma creatures! The migrants have arrived, I've assigned them to duties and am preparing to house them, I have a small stock of beds ready, but no rooms for them yet. I've ordered the construction of 16 more rooms, when they're done, I'll order another 16, and appoint a Sheriff.
1631
So far so good, the migrants have arrived, started duties. I've ordered the dwarves to wiring the supports to blow soon, we're running a bit low on wood, but we should see a caravan soon. The first line of fortifications are in in the magma tunnel, a second row is planned. Still looking for any other interesting things underground. More migrants have arrived, the magma chamber is almost ready, I just need to have the dwarves open up the intake some more to allow for appropriate volume of magmaflow. I still need to secure a source of water, but we've not found anything yet.u
1737
Took out the first bunch of overhangs, some didn't fall due to overlooked connections. Ordered rebuilding of the supports, we'll take those other ones out shortly.
1814
The dwarves came, picked up a anvil. Still looking for some water source, there is a river to the east, but I have the uncanny feeling that there is some underground river around here... I just have to look...
