This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

Agreements

Though the standard "quests" of olde have been replaced with a more robust "rumors" system, quests still kind of exist in the form of agreements. If you are a Hearthperson or any other kind of subordinate to a lord or, for example a bandit leader. You can now "Request duty or advice pertaining to service as a hearthperson/liutenant" , these include "quests" to kill bandits, monsters, or to even cause problems for opposing factions.

Once you complete it, talk to your superior and tell them about the fact that you completed it.The option to request a service will be replaced with the option to report your success, or to report the status of your agreement. Reporting your status before you complete the agreement will get you a "I am confident in your abilities" message.

If you complete these tasks successfully you will build up a reputation as a loyal soldier or even a hero, or a defender of the helpless depending on the agreement.

You can check the status of your various quests/agreements by pressing "Q" for quest log and scrolling to "Agreements"

Rumors

[This section is incomplete]

If you are not a subordinate to anybody and you don't wish to be, you can make use of the new "rumors" system.

To spread a rumor about you killing a creature for example you must talk to someone and "Spread Rumor" and find the "You slew soandso" message.

You can also spread rumors via 'k'->"begin performance"->"Tell a story" and find the death of the creature you killed, usually under sites, this is the lair of the creature or place you killed it. It can also be found in the "region" section if it was in no specific place.

A third method is to show someone part of the corpse, eg its head just drop it in front of the person you wish to tell.

Brag about your past violent acts also works to a lesser extent, but spreading the rumor and telling the story are much more reliable.

Once someone in a village knows of your deeds, it will start spreading throughout the village and then to places farther away, sometimes it takes a day or two for everyone in the nearby area to know, sometimes it takes a week.
