Gauntlet entrance of Cryptlustrous, ca. 1054.12.25, during a goblin ambush. Although it is the only open entrance to the fort, the goblins are nevertheless somehow reluctant to enter the gauntlet. Fortifications allow dwarves to shoot at enemies on the gauntlet, while the channel guarantees enemies cannot avoid the barrage. Stone fall traps also tend to knock enemies off the ledge into the channel. The only exit from the channel is a stair back to the valley surface. See

for the main entrance above.
