Chain mail is a suit of armor assembled out of tiny interlocking metal rings. In real life, such suits are made by drawing metal through a die to produce wire, wrapping the wire around a dowel, then cutting individual rings out of that wire. Next the individual wire links are interlocked with one another, with each link riveted shut, and the process is repeated to produce an entire article.

Chain mail is the second most effective armor in the game, and also weighs only half as much as plate mail. It has a material size of 6 and takes two units of metal bars to make.
