A demand is a Template:L's request that your Template:L build a specific item of Template:L in one of their Template:Ls. All immigrant and elected nobles, with the sole exception of the Template:L, can make demands.
When a noble makes a demand, you will have about half a year to fulfill it. Demands are always for furniture, and can be for either Template:L of a certain type, like a Template:L, or Template:L of a certain material, like Template:L items. Sometimes they specify both, for example "green glass window in dining room". It can happen that the demand will read "item in room" - this is due to a bug and the demand then cannot be fulfilled.v0.28.181.40d
Demands are announced at the bottom of the screen, but if you miss the message, you can see if a noble is demanding anything on the Template:L. If the uppercase bracketed word '[DEMAND]' next to a noble's name is gray, he is making no demands. If white, his current demands have been fulfilled or surpassed. If brown (or yellow when highlighted) the noble has stated their demand and has given you time to complete it. If red, the demanded is expected to have been completed already.
Fulfilling the demand gives the noble a happy Template:L. If a demand goes without being fulfilled, the noble will be "Template:L". The longer the demand goes unfulfilled the unhappier the noble will get.[Verify] There are no other direct consequences to failing to fill a demand. Eventually, an Template:L will be made that the noble has simply "forgotten" the demand.
Happy Template:Ls make fewer mandates and demands than unhappy ones.[Verify]
Demands should not be confused with Template:Ls.
