Function

The position of sheriff opens once the population of your fortress reaches 20. The sheriff will subdue and imprison lawbreaking dwarves. Without a jail, the sheriff will have no choice but to issue summary justice in the form of a beating.

When your fortress reaches 50 dwarves, the sheriff will be promoted to Captain of the guard.

Sheriff can be designated through the nobles screen.
