:I've had this happen too. You can assign the dog to another dwarf after it's owner dies. I don't know if it's a bug or not. 38.100.221.250 05:13, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

::Assigning war animals is not the same game-mechanic (or menu) as putting animals up for pet-adoption.  War animals are not pets, they are "working animals", so re-assigning seems as reasonable as anything.  Doesn't seem like a bug to me, but who knows, and really, is there a diff? --Albedo 05:47, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

A method of unassigning a dog, or just a bug?
While playing with the Mayday graphics set, I accidentally designated a war dog assigned to one of my wrestlers to be butchered, via the animal menu in the status screen. When I undid this, the dog was no longer assigned to that wrestler, but was quite happy to be given back. Is this a bug, modding or what? --Fluff 22:27, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
