:I think this is a fairly popular request these days. On the official forums there is a thread that has "Improved Resource Management" as one of the things to improve. Maybe you could wander over there and put in your 2 cents about also wanting this improved. In the meantime, I have taken to processing in rounds. I will process into barrels until I have no Sweet Pods left before I mill for flour or dye. While I know this isn't the most efficient way to do things it does avoid loosing all those pods to sugar.--Ehertlein 10:58, 27 August 2008 (EDT)

:: I set up a custom stockpile near the quern that accepted only dye plants and milled dye. I'm hoping the miller is lazy and grabs these items that are at least 10 steps closer than the rest of the foodpile. So far, so good. Q: Do dwarves get stronger by working out on the quern? --Jellyfishgreen 11:09, 6 October 2008 (EDT)

::: Not in and of itself.  The Miller skill ups will pump their stats, though.  Generally, a Quern works just fine unless you're looking to process large amounts of wheat (say, 20+ units per season).  At that point, you should look into hooking up some power. --ThunderClaw 14:45, 6 October 2008 (EDT)
