* In the tree tiles section, the TREE_TRUNK_* and TREE_CAP_WALL_* corner tokens are named with opposite directions than expected. For example, TREE_TRUNK_NW uses tile 201 which is ╔, while TREE_BRANCH_NW uses 217 which is ┘, and TRACK_NW uses 188 (with inverted colors) which is ╝. In-game, ╔ is used for trunk sections that connect to other trunk sections to the south and east.

The d_init.txt file can be used to make many adjustments to the game's behavior, such as enabling autosave or changing the population limit, as well as some technical tricks to improve framerate by deactivating features like weather and temperature.

This file is located at <Dwarf Fortress>/prefs/d_init.txt. The default settings and an explanation of each can be found at <Dwarf Fortress>/data/init/d_init_default.txt. Changes made to this file take effect the next time the game is loaded, and apply to all worlds.
