Gender of animals being assigned

It would be nice if we could see the gender of animals when we are assigning them to cages or to pits.

Rename animals based on location

Instead of "Stray kitten", animals should be named according to their current status:

Stray
Animal is travelling about and is not owned by anyone.
Caged
Animal is locked inside a cage and cannot breed or roam.
Tied
Animal is attached to a chain or rope.
Lost
Animal is currently stuck down a pit or locked in a room which it cannot get out of.

Thus, if you look at the Animals screen and see:

  • Tied bull
  • Stray cow
  • Tied cow
  • Tied cow
  • Tied cow
  • Tied cow
  • Stray bull
  • Tied bull
  • Stray cow calf
  • Stray cow calf
  • Reg Oddomzursùl, cow calf

Then you know that the first cow and the second bull are the ones you want to butcher, while the tied bull and the tied cows are your breeding stock and are not to be eaten (yet).

The "lost" moniker is useful because if one animal escapes from a pit with a forbidden door, that animal will become "stray" and will be easy to dump back into the pit. Without the "lost" moniker, knowing which particular animal has escaped is extremely difficult, and usually requires freeing all of the animals and then dumping them all back in. This is the rough equivalent of swatting a mosquito with a nuclear warhead.

Stones screen add-on

The Stones status screen should gain the information displayed under the Stocks status screen if your stockpile records are precise enough to inventory all of the stones.

Spikes of rope reed

Spikes of cloth do not make sense: cloth cannot make a spike as it is much too soft. "Tassels" would be a superior designation for cloth.

To make this into a not-so-teensy-weensy request, perhaps the "spikes", "hanging rings", "bands", etc. could be exported to the raw object files, and the appropriate ones could then make use of the [HARD_MAT] tag just as toys do.
