Nobles will make demands for rooms of a certain quality, determined by the value of the walls, floors, and furniture in the defined room. For some nobles, like the bookkeeper, who requires a meager office, it is a necessity to perform their jobs, while for others there is no practical reason, besides averting the unhappy thoughts that will be produced if you ignore their demands.
