:It's been observed in several places (none of which seem to be articles on this wiki, oddly enough) that underground trees will grow in subterranean mud (whether on soil, rough stone, or smooth stone, though reportedly '''not''' constructed stone floors), dry subterranean soil which has an unmined soil wall beneath it within a 2-tile radius (just like with willow trees and rivers/murky pools), or dry subterranean soil which has mud on any tile within a 2-tile radius on the ''same'' Z-level. It's what I've always observed, and several other players have observed similar behavior. --[[User:Quietust|Quietust]] 20:44, 19 September 2010 (UTC) | :It's been observed in several places (none of which seem to be articles on this wiki, oddly enough) that underground trees will grow in subterranean mud (whether on soil, rough stone, or smooth stone, though reportedly '''not''' constructed stone floors), dry subterranean soil which has an unmined soil wall beneath it within a 2-tile radius (just like with willow trees and rivers/murky pools), or dry subterranean soil which has mud on any tile within a 2-tile radius on the ''same'' Z-level.
