I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and the data files (including save and init) are all here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\df_31_25_win\data\

...I'm also on Windows 7 64-bit, and was running with files in the same Program Files folder. This worked, because the user account that I ran DF as had ownership of and full permissions on the DF directory. I just updated my install to be owned by Administrator instead, to be a little more, err, "proper". It hasn't worked yet, instead giving me the:
Main index file missing/corrupted. The file "index" must be in the "data" folder. Make sure DF decompressed into its folders properly.
Most places on the wiki suggest not installing it in Program Files for this reason. But now I've found this wiki page. It sounds like somebody got it working, installed in Program Files and using the VirtualStore. Is that right? How is it done? Or how does the data folder end up in the VirtualStore? --[[User:Yak|Yak]] ([[User talk:Yak|talk]]) 06:06, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
