Who is this man?[edit]

Who is this man, what is this file, and in what way does it relate to Dwarf Fortress? I only found it as I was planning to upload a picture of Jojo the dog, and looked if one existed already, but it has been on this site for over 7 years! It is bizarre, to the point where I am not sure I am a proponent of removing it from this wiki. Normally I would be when it comes to unrelated files, but finding this felt like unearthing an Easter egg of the Internet itself, like a debug image left in a secret room in a video game. Should the Wiki really get rid of something like that? Or am I mistaken as to what this is? --Voliol (talk) 23:08, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

The later. Look closer at the file page, it says 'view on Wikimedia Commons', meaning that it isn't hosted on dwarffortresswiki.org but used from https://commons.wikimedia.org/. It's a mediawiki feature which allow the usage of any uploaded media file from the Wikimedia Commons on any of its wikis. Consequently you can use any of commons 80million+ files over here (often saves a lot of hassle and bandwidth I believe) simply by using its file name e.g. File:Joke - phone books in doorway.jpg . As for your image just pick another file name, it means very little. --Jan (talk) 23:46, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
