Editing User talk:MrFake/NStepCyclicRepeater

I've thought of using this type of repeater myself, but I found that getting power to all the pumps was annoyingly wasteful. Not impossible, but a lot of gears and axles are required. There's also the problem that the signal causes something to open once every N steps, and remain closed the rest of the time, when often the opposite would be much simpler.

Minor points: ''<nowiki>[[User:MrFake|link title]]</nowiki>'' produces a [[User:MrFake|link title]] without the little arrow which means "this is a link to a page outside this wiki" ([http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page example]). Also, check out [[Template:Diagram]]. It would have saved me a lot of time if I had known about it sooner.

:It takes 2n gear assemblies to provide power and switching, plus axles.  It's definitely wasteful.  But it's the mechanics behind it that are important.  Means to an end and all.  Though, I haven't found any good use for this yet besides a delay, which I'm not fond of.  I thought about a simple chaser lights setup. I tried constructing the 3-step repeater in my v0.31 fortress (in order to operate some [[danger room]] spikes) but ran into a rather curious problem - if water falls in front of an active pump, it '''will not trigger''' the pressure plate, which means that the blue pressure plate never triggers and thus kills the whole repeater (turning it into nothing more than a mist generator).
