I have the impression that 30 tables in the general dining hall is more than enough for a fortress with 200 dwarves... (that is playing v0.31.16), 20 may even suffice --[[User:MathFox|MathFox]] 13:26, 16 February 2011 (UTC) | I have the impression that 30 tables in the general dining hall is more than enough for a fortress with 200 dwarves... How many chairs before crowded tables?
I was wondering if there's been any research put in to seeing the optimum table setting. I assume 2 chairs across from each other doesn't make the table crowded. But beyond that? Can you do a chair on each side of the table and not get unhappy thoughts about crowded tables? KaelemGaen 08:37, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- Tables only support the use of one chair for the purpose of dining. Any more than one is a waste of furniture. This informatioin should probably go in the wiki somewhere. 71.181.41.95
Tables & Chairs = 1/5th Population: Bad formula?? More testing needed?
Under Happiness considerations it says:
Multiple dwarves may use the same table, but they will receive a small unhappy thought if this happens. A good general rule of thumb is to have enough tables and chairs to serve one fifth of a fortress' population at any given time. Because dwarves do not eat very often, this should be more than enough to avoid any unhappiness.
The wisdom of this strategy was questioned on The DF2010 Little Questions Thread and it was suggested this would only lead to them being quote "unhappy and talkative". The implication is that much more (than 1/5th of the population in) tables and chairs would be needed. Can anyone confirm, either way? --Thundercraft 12:45, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
