I usually spell things as expected since I know it'll just get "fixed", but "have" doesn't rhyme with brave, cave, Dave, gave, lave, pave, rave, save, or wave, etc, and really should not be spelled with the "e". Dictionaries are supposed to be descriptive not prescriptive. And since there is no central authority on the language, we decide its rules by how we use it. Reject prescriptivism, especially when it's 400 fecking hundred years old.
