The '''Gem Cutting''' skill governs the speed of cutting Rough [[Gems]] into Cut Gems. Normal cut gems do not have a [[quality]] rating, so Gem Cutting cannot improve those. However, high Gem Cutting skill can improve the quality of any Large Gems that are created. It may also increase the chance of creating a Large Gem, though that is uncertain. (Any Verification?)  Large Gems count as [[Finished Goods]] and have a base value of twice the value of a normal gem of the same type.

Gem Cutting is also used to turn raw [[glass]] into cut glass.  This is an effective way to train gem cutting since rough gems are usually scarce.
