I had a bronze colossus visit me soon after saving. I reloaded that save and at about the same time a dragon showed up instead. What is the mechanism for megabeasts in fortress mode? --Peglegpenguin 06:19, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

: I can confirm that the spawning of megabeast is either when you reach 100.000 wealth or 100 people. I got a humanoid megabeast made out of steam or water appearing after I created around 200.000 wealth and had 52 people. Unfortunately I didnt had the chance to either kill or see where he went. Titans don't seem to fall into the class of megabeasts as of 2010. After worldgen, they don't appear in the world until certain fortress-mode conditions are met, not all of them are hostile, and they may be slain in the course of history. Also, the Age of Heros can begin after slaying all dragons, hydra and colossi, without ever encountering a titan. DokEnkephalin 20:32, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

I can verify that in 31.18 I had a population of ~50 dwarves and I was invaded by a Minotaur, so it's definitely less than 80. I'd have to find the save to verify my fortress wealth.Schm0 01:21, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

I was just visited by a Dragon. Population had just reache 160, and total created wealth was a bit over 5 Million. So I'm nut sure that there is any correlation. On the other hand, it could depend on a timer like the game used for Adamantium-mined/End of game.

Or it could be a simple timer, or completely random...

I have seen several megabeasts with the phrase "Beware its web!" in their description. Until just now, i pretty generally walled myself off from any megabeasts, since they are often ridiculously poisonous. I just captured a beast with this web warning, and decided it might be useful to try to make a <purple spinel megabeast spider> silk farm. (I captured it by building cage traps in my current GCS silk farm and opening the farm to the cavern the beast was in) I set it free in a room with an animal on a few separate occasions (to see if it shot web, and, if so, what the web registered as). There was no web shooting. Do these megabeasts not use web as their descriptions would suggest? is this currently broken/unimplemented? --SkoobyDoo 20:16, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

:It's a bug3149 - proper webbing creatures use [WEBBER:LOCAL_CREATURE_MAT:SILK] along with [USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:SILK:SILK_TEMPLATE], but randomly generated beasts with webs just use the token [WEBBER] without any parameters (just like all creatures did back in 40d and earlier). --Quietust 20:21, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

 • The number of megabeasts might be affected by the world gen params

[MOUNTAIN_CAVE_MIN:25] and [NON_MOUNTAIN_CAVE_MIN:50]. I guess each cave must have a (semi-)megabeast. --TomiTapio 01:00, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

In my experience, megabeasts (and kobolds) seem to only hang out in mountain caves, while all others (mountain or non) are populated by semimegabeasts. --Quietust 01:03, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

 • Reading Legends mode... one quadruped marsh titan was killed by a sylvan elf! (Genesis mod) --TomiTapio 01:43, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I can confirm that I have several titans were killed during worldgen, and none of them by other megabeasts. So the 'megabeasts are invincible during worldgen' info is incorrect. --Aequor 17:45, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
