As of 40.06, gathering many wild surface plants such as blueberry bushes, blackberry bushes, turnips, and bittermelon results in stacks of "blueberry bushes/blackberry bushes/turnip plants/bittermelon vines" rather than "blueberries/blackberries/turnips/bittermelons." The bushes/plants seem to be unprocessable, with no way to convert into edible or brewable goods, or produce seeds for farming.
Is it supposed to take upwards of 30 seconds to harvest a single unit of fruit?
Need fufilment[edit]
Finishing a "Plant Gathering" job appears to fulfill the need to wander that some dwarves have. In a contained or underground pasture, this is also much safer than the other common way to fulfill this need (hunting).
