I couldn't help but notice that the Grazer value shown in this page is just using the old grazer value, which I believe was reworked for the most recent release. Based on the formula offered on the [[DF2014:Grazer|Grazer page]], it looks like, for example, a water buffalo would have an effective Grazer value of about 356, rather than 60. And, if this is the case, it would mean that animals like the Water Buffalo are no longer nigh impossible to keep alive (as suggested in the notes section of this page). Since the formula is pretty straight forward, I went ahead and calculated the effective Grazer value for the domestic grazers, based on the max size offered in their various articles here. I've not had the opportunity to test any of this, mind you; I'm operating on the assumption that other DF2014 articles offer correct and current information. I rounded all numbers up, but I'd like to note that I'm not sure if the actual game rounds up, down, or to the nearest whole. | I couldn't help but notice that the Grazer value shown in this page is just using the old grazer value, which I believe was reworked for the most recent release. Correct Grazer Value[edit]
I couldn't help but notice that the Grazer value shown in this page is just using the old grazer value, which I believe was reworked for the most recent release. Based on the formula offered on the Grazer page, it looks like, for example, a water buffalo would have an effective Grazer value of about 356, rather than 60.
Animal | Effective Grazer |
---|---|
Alpaca | 2614 |
Cavy | 74768 |
Cow | 522 |
Donkey | 878 |
Goat | 3364 |
Horse | 599 |
Llama | 1287 |
Mule | 708 |
Pig | 2934 |
Sheep | 3364 |
Rabbit | 106366 |
Reindeer | 1643 |
Water Buffalo | 356 |
Yak | 465 |
Anyway, just thought I'd call attention to this here. This was original discussed elsewhere, but it doesn't look like this was accounted for in this article yet. -Rotaretilbo (talk) 20:46, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
Also, just as an aside, because I haven't tested any of this, and because I'm fairly new to this wiki, I'm not going to edit the main page. I don't know what guidelines or procedures are in place regarding editing pages proper, so I'll leave it to someone who is familiar with the wiki and can test that I've done the math correct and haven't misunderstood anything to correct this potential mistake on the page. -Rotaretilbo (talk) 20:51, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Rotaretilbo. I've made the updates.

feeding animals[edit]
I've noticed my dwarves will feed herbivores if they're left underground without food for too long. The labor seems to be Give Food just like it would be for an injured dwarf instead of animal care. Not sure if this is a bug with how animals are interpreted or just a new feature
Goblin domestic animals[edit]
Add evil common domestic, like beak dog.
