Scribes are an assigned occupation at libraries. They can be assigned in the Locations and Occupations menu (l).
Scribes make copies of scrolls, quires, and books.
Bugs
If a Scribe switches to another activity (such as sleeping, drinking, doing other work) in the middle of copying a book, the Scribe will not return to the original task and instead sits idle without copying other books.Bug:9718 A potential solution is going through the books on the library table. The ones labeled with tsk, but unattended are likely the ones halfway finished. Forbid and then unforbid the book to resolve the issue.
