Some bandit gangs and criminal organizations call their boss a warlord. In Fortress Mode you can eventually get the announcement popup that one of your dwarves or permanent residents, being the rightful heir, has inherited the title of Warlord of such a group. In the legends mode, these groups are just called nomadic groups.
