Waste?
What happens to seeds that are planted, but the season changes before they're harvested? Are the seeds collected? Do they remain until the next growing season?Runspotrun 19:42, 7 November 2007 (EST)

- a definite no to that. they stay planted, block their tiles, but not the whole plot. They will even grow if the plot is set to the same crop in that new season.(38a) Maybe grow time of last season is even memorized, resulting in early harvest. --Koltom

Seed stockpiles
I have a small seed stockpile next to my farming village, but it's never used even though it's taking from my main food stockpiles. If I allow other types of resource onto it, there's no problem. What's going on? I've got a tonne of seeds elsewhere on the map - they just aren't being moved! --Theory 17:53, 10 March 2008 (EDT)
Numbers
Can the seed cap of 200 can be exceeded by trading with a caravan ? Also, how many seeds can a single bag hold ? There is a tip to dump small seed stacks that use up a bag, but won't dwarves automatically merge seed bags to save up space ? --Aykavil 05:35, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
- I have seen the number of seeds exceed 200, but excess seeds go away somehow, possibly cleared on season change. One bag can contain up to 100 seeds, and one barrel can contain 10 bags (or 10 seeds (100?), if you don't have any empty bags). Dwarves do not automatically merge anything, yet. This may be one of the most requested features, since seeds, bolts, and many other things must currently be micromanaged to save space. Either that, or you just have to make vast stockpiles and produce lots of bags, bins, and barrels. --Hussell 13:49, 11 July 2008 (EDT)
- Actually you need no bins and almost no space and barrels (2-4) for seeds. Bolts micromanage themselves just fine too, but indeed need bins. --Höhlenschreck 21:42, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
