Hi, I am Nerd10101 but you can call me Nerd, for short. Of course I am a nerd and I like playing games, being on the computer, and designing things like games, yes I make my own game, and graphics(signatures, myspace contact boxes,etc.). Dwarf Fortress is a great game to play since it involves real time strategy and creating civilizations.
Project(s)[edit]
Two Towers[edit]
I am working on my "Two Towers" project which involves digging through many levels of rock and creating two towers in the process where my dwarves will grow and flourish.
I will keep tabs, using pictures, videos, and logs, on my work as I build it so you can get the latest info on my project.
19:04, 24 November 2007 (EST): I was mining down making the first level of one tower when I struck an air pocket in the mountain and what was inside I was surprised. There were peasants, demons, and little trinkets. I was happy at first but now I am like...F************!!!!
So I guess I will NOT save and then reload it...I know it is cheating but this is a project not just playing the game. Anyone have any ideas to destroy these enemies please put it in the discussion.
I thought these mountains were safe...but I was waaaay wrong.
Nerd10101 17:50, 25 November 2007 (EST): I loaded up my other saved file, the one where I didn't mine through that air pocket in the mountain(See picture above). I avoided that area of the mountain so I had to work on my second tower instead. When I was doing that I saw that my miner's couldn't find there way to the food and drinks. I was panicking . I was so worried that I was going to lose 3 of my best miner's. Then I thought maybe I have to mine a different way. So I did that. I mined to ground level and my miner's ran to the warm arms of beer. It's okay I was going to mine there anyways.
Whew!
Nerd10101 14:39, 27 November 2007 (EST): I managed to mine all the stairways up and down the second tower. I am very happy about that and that I am really close to mining through the first level near the bridge.
Nerd10101 14:53, 6 December 2007 (EST): I just found out that Demons can't be killed with ston-fall traps so I wasted 40 stone fall traps for nothing. I will update that part of the demons article if it isn't already on there. I did a save cheat so it went back to it was I put two bridges over a 10 story deep whole and my cat tested the fatality rate of this so I hope it works.
*sigh* I hope this works
Nerd10101 02:15, 9 December 2007 (EST): Well that didn't work out the way I expected it would. I am not done yet but my whole fortress is starving. So I saved that and now I am using one of my previously saved files, one that was saved before I was digging into the mountain, winter of 1051. Let me tell you everything. You know how there are dwarves being added to your fortress, that are called migrants? Well they had no way of getting to the entrance of my fortress so they would just wait there and die. The same thing happened with merchants, but they wouldn't die they would leave, when I needed more resources. So I sat there and thought maybe I could mine a way out of my fortress where I could put a trade depot. I looked at the very tip of my fortress and I thought, "Oh what the hell." and so I mined roads through to the north and west of my fortress. Then all of these starving thirsty migrants started to flood in through the trade depot roads. It was hard enough trying to support my fortress with a very low quantity of food but adding around 20 dwarves to my fortress at one time completely depleted my food supply. This time I will try to make adequate food storage available for my fortress.
*sigh* great I am starting all over again.
Nerd10101 23:02, 12 December 2007 (EST): I gave up on making the towers because it takes to long and it is a challenge to take care of my dwarves and work on this at the same time.
Sorry :[
Nerd10101 00:23, 13 December 2007 (EST): Okay I restarted I cheated and edited everything so everything I need it right in front of me :D and I found a PERFECT place to start my Two Towers.
Damn it is a good day :D
