Tarn Adams assigns a 4-piece version number to each Dwarf Fortress release. Each number has it's own meaning.
Example:
0 | . | 27 | . | 176 | . | 38 | c | |||||||||||||||||
Currently in an alpha release | 27 core components have been completed | 176 required components have been completed | 38 bloat components have been completed | A third bug-fix release |
- The first number indicates an alpha or beta state, it will be "1" when it is no longer in beta and has gone gold.[1]
- The second number is the total number of core components completed.
- The third number is the total number of req components completed.
- The fourth number is the total number of bloat components completed.
- The adjacent letter is increased by one alphabetically for each bug-fix release of a version.
