One of the more popular styles with contemporary wedding gown designers is the use of some sort of belt or sash at the waist. It is an accessory that is making its way down the runway on every gown from the more casual dress to the ultimate couture gown. There are plenty of advantages and far less disadvantages connected with wearing a belt as an accessory to your wedding gown.
A belt can be a fantastic way to spruce up a plain gown and add some sparkle or some color. If you happen to love the silhouette and the lines of a particular gown, but it feels a little too plain or dressed down for your wedding day, adding a belt can be an easy way to spruce it up a bit. Designers are coming up with beautiful jeweled bridal belts and sashes that can be fastened around the bride’s waist or worn however she prefers. These belts are a fantastic and fashionable way to liven up a more basic gown and give it some character.
In addition to being an easy way to liven up a more plain gown, these belts are also relatively inexpensive. If a bride has fallen in love with a more expensive gown that is out of her budget with some sort of beading or detail at the waist, she can often achieve that same look by adding a jeweled belt to a less expensive dress with a similar silhouette.
Not only can the belt be worn on the wedding day and provide a beautiful bit of detail to an otherwise basic gown, the belt is something that the bride can keep separately from her dress and wear with other outfits as a reminder of her wedding day. While many brides opt to archive or even sell their wedding gowns due to the high cost of purchasing a wedding gown, they can recoup some of the money they spent while still holding on to a piece of their wedding day attire.
The only disadvantage that might possibly be associated with wearing a belt or a sash with a wedding gown is the additional cost on top of the cost of the wedding gown itself. Wedding gowns can be quite an expensive garment and adding a belt on top of the cost of the gown, the headpiece, and veil can be an added expense that some brides can ill afford. Never the less, it remains an excellent accessory for the bride who just wants a little something extra for her dress [1].
