Template talk:Newbie

Suggestion

Adding a line that says something along the lines of "Please refrain from editing other people's User page unless they state it's desired. Comments etc. should go on User talk pages instead."
I've seen a statement to that effect made several times, and User Courtesy would dictate it as a Golden Rule... but, so is signing etc.
What do other people think of adding that to the template?
After all, this template probably has one of the biggest impacts on molding our newest users into well-developed and useful editors.

I'd go for it, but in my past experience (I've been busy and not on much) that doesn't happen much. Different now? --Savok 16:31, 27 May 2008 (EDT)
Seems to be different now.
Oh, and don't put blank lines in the middle of your comments. --Savok 08:54, 3 June 2008 (EDT)

"This is a template."

If they are newbies, they may not know what that means, which is why I said that the template was impersonal and that some of it may not apply to them. I guess that I mean that we may not be correcting them with all of it - they could have gotten some things right. --Savok 15:12, 10 July 2008 (EDT)

Saying they haven't necessarily done anything wrong is good, but saying it doesn't apply is bad. VengefulDonut 12:41, 22 July 2008 (EDT)
