Cassiterite is the only ore (in DF) that can be smelted into tin. It can also be combined to create bronze, bismuth bronze, trifle pewter, lay pewter, and fine pewter. In the world of Dwarf Fortress, cassiterite is found in only layers of granite, as veins.
Smelting
Cassisterite is a required ingredient to make several types of metal alloy bars at a smelter; see alloy for specific formulae:
- Tin bars
- Bronze bars
- Bismuth bronze bars
- Lay pewter bars
- Trifle pewter bars
- Fine pewter bars
